How long is my contract?
Contract? What contract?
At Gem State Direct Primary Care, we believe healthcare should be built on trust—not tied up in long-term contracts. That’s why our membership is month-to-month, giving you the freedom to manage your care on your terms.
What this means for you:
-
No commitments, no cancellation fees, and no enrollment fees
-
Transparent monthly pricing
-
Stay only as long as you’re benefiting from our care
We’re confident that once you experience the convenience, connection, and clarity of our care, you’ll want to stick around—not because you have to, but because it works.
Do you take insurance?
Although in-network insurance cannot be used for our services, Gem State Direct Primary Care can order labs, x-rays, and medications through facilities covered by your in-network insurance.
While we provide direct primary care, we recommend that patients maintain insurance to comply with any applicable tax implications/policies. Gem State Direct Primary Care is not a replacement for insurance—we encourage patients to carry a high-deductible or major medical plan, or one with a health savings account, to ensure financial protection in case of hospitalization or specialist referrals.
To find the best plan for your needs, consult with your insurance provider to ensure compatibility with our medical model.
What other fees can I expect?
At Gem State Direct Primary Care, we keep things simple and transparent. Your monthly membership covers most routine care—but occasionally, there may be small additional fees for services outside the scope of your membership.
Here’s what you might expect:
-
Labs & Tests: We have negotiated directly with local labs and imaging centers to secure discounted, transparent, cash-pay pricing for members. Patients with insurance can also elect to use their coverage for these services.
-
Medications: We’re proud to offer many commonly prescribed medications right here in our office—making it easy and affordable for our members. By providing medications at wholesale cost, we help you skip the inflated, unpredictable prices you might encounter at the pharmacy. Prefer to use your insurance instead? No problem—we’re happy to send your prescriptions to the pharmacy of your choice.
-
Procedures: Some procedures (like skin tag removal or Pap Smears) may carry a modest pathology or cytology fee.
-
Outside Services: If you need imaging, specialist care, or hospital services, those are billed separately by the provider—not by us.
We’re committed to keeping your care affordable and predictable. No surprise bills, no hidden charges—just honest pricing and clear communication.
Is Direct Primary Care the same as Concierge Medicine?
While they share some similarities, the way they operate—and what patients can expect—differs in key ways.
Direct Primary Care is a membership-based model where patients pay a flat monthly fee directly to their provider. This fee covers most primary care services. By moving beyond traditional insurance models, Direct Primary Care practices simplify healthcare delivery, lower overall costs, and prioritize what truly matters—the connection between doctor and patient.
Concierge Medicine also uses a membership model, but typically involves higher fees and insurance billing. Patients pay an annual retainer (often $1,200–$10,000/year) for enhanced access and services. However, with Concierge Medicine, concierge practices bill insurance for each visit. On top of insurance charges, members pay an additional ("retainer") fee simply for access to their doctor.
What medical conditions do you care for?
Gem State Direct Primary Care provides comprehensive, personalized healthcare for patients of all ages. We offer preventive services like annual check-ups, screenings, and wellness visits, as well as expert management of chronic conditions such as diabetes, high blood pressure, asthma, and thyroid disorders. Need care for sudden illnesses or minor injuries? We've got you covered with same-day access for colds, flu, infections, and more.
We also prioritize mental health support, nutrition counseling, weight management, and overall health optimization. If specialized care is needed, we connect patients with trusted specialists and help coordinate treatment—ensuring seamless, high-quality care every step of the way.
What if I need medical attention when I'm away from home?
With modern telemedicine, accessing quality healthcare has never been easier. Many conditions can be diagnosed and treated through a convenient phone or video consultation, allowing you to receive expert medical advice without leaving your home. Whether you're dealing with a sudden illness, managing a chronic condition, or seeking guidance on symptoms, we provide personalized care tailored to your needs.
If medication is required, we'll identify the nearest pharmacy and ensure you receive the most appropriate prescription for your situation. Plus, if your condition requires in-person care or specialist attention, we can guide you to the best local healthcare options, ensuring you get the right treatment no matter where you are. Telemedicine offers a flexible, efficient way to stay on top of your health—whenever and wherever you need it.
Do you make house calls or home visits?
Yes, we do! At Gem State Direct Primary Care, we understand that there are times when making it into the office just isn’t possible—whether due to illness, limited mobility, or other circumstances. In those situations, we’re happy to bring care to you. House calls are offered on a case-by-case basis and depend on your location and medical needs. We’ll work with you to find a suitable time and make sure it’s the right fit for your situation.
Since availability can vary, we recommend reaching out early if you think a home visit might be helpful. Our goal is to provide care that’s both compassionate and convenient—right where you need it most.
